The Master of Education (MEd) in Educational Leadership is for educators who wish to become leaders at the school (principal, assistance principal) and/or district level (supervisor, director). The program of study focuses on both the theory and application of school leadership for the twenty-first century. This program includes a six-credit internship, through which students have the opportunity to apply their coursework and further develop their leadership abilities in a real-life education setting.
Upon successful completion of the program and 27 months of successful teaching, and document proof of the completion of a special education course, students are eligible for certification as Administrator I (Assistant in Administration, Supervisor in Central Administrations, and Supervisor of Instruction).

Requirements for the Major
Thirty-nine (39) credits of required coursework must be completed.

Notes:
The programs in educational leadership qualifying for state certification and have been approved by the Maryland State Department of Education and meet both state and national standards. Students must complete a special education course to be eligible for Administrator I. This course can take prior to the program or students can complete AD 932 to meet this requirement. Students have met the special education requirement must take AD 668 School Law instead of AD932 Special Education Law and Compliance for School Leaders.
