WR 402 - Writing Internship

(3.00 cr.)

Restricted to junior or senior writing majors, interdisciplinary writing majors, or writing minors. Students plan and apply for a supervised, semester-long internship in a professional workplace that involves writing, editing, teaching, publishing, copy editing, journalism, corporate communications, or other writing-intensive activities. Students are expected to work approximately 7-8 hours per week for a total of 100 hours. Emphasis on practical professional preparation and creation of a portfolio. Written or electronic permission of the internship coordinator or department chair. May be repeated once for degree credit. May not be used for core credit. Paid internships are usually ineligible for degree credit. (Fall only)
