HS 378 - History of Modern Japan

Examines modern Japanese history and the relationship between Japan's past and its role as a major nation today. Illuminates distinctive patterns of Japanese society and their influence on modernization, characteristics of Japanese cultural identity vis-a-vis the West, and key factors in Japan's current economic success.
