BL 302 - Ecology of the Burren

(3.00 cr.)

Explores the special geoecology of the Burren, with special emphasis on the anthropogenic factors that threaten the very existence of the unique ecosystem. Students use field-based methods that integrate the geology and ecology of the landscape, and explore environmental issues that impact the sustainability of the habitat and lifestyles that coexist in the Burren. Field trips and independent research projects are an essential aspect of the hands-on learning that occurs in this immersive course. Offered in Ireland only.

Prerequisite: BL 111  or BL 201  or CH 114 .
