SP 340 - Clinical Audiology

(3.00 cr.)

A study of the assessment of the auditory and balance systems. Differential diagnosis of hearing disorders in children and adults, middle ear analysis, speech audiometric procedures, site of lesion assessments, electrophysiological auditory assessments, and behavioral auditory assessments are addressed. Students participate in lab exercises outside of the assigned class time collecting assessment data to be used in writing intensive clinical reports. The diagnostic testing of partners promotes critical thinking, and problem solving skills with a real subject completing evidence based diagnostic procedures. The reports are written and revised during the semester to demonstrate mastery of diagnostic report writing skills. The lab exercises and clinical report writing reinforce the lectures regarding the diagnostic procedures. Formerly SP 440.

Prerequisite: SP 103 , SP 201 .
