CM 377 - Media Relations

A vital skill for public relations professionals is their ability to communicate effectively with members of the media on behalf of an organization. Students are provided with the techniques and strategies needed to support the role of an organizational media relations manager with emphasis on serving as a spokesperson. This course looks at the media needs, including communication planning, tips, and techniques. Additionally, the course establishes a framework for a successful media relations program. A significant portion of the course requires students to participate as spokespersons in various scenario-based exercises.

Prerequisite: CM 227 or CM 307 .
