Prerequisite: EN 101 , one EN 200-level core course. A study of African American literature, with special attention to placing literary expression in the context of slavery, segregation, civil rights, and the black diaspora. The course may survey the development of a black literary tradition, or it may focus on an important era, movement, writer, or issue in that tradition. IAF
