AH 307 - Discovering Difference: Art in the Age of Exploration(3.00 cr.)
The two centuries following Columbus's "discovery" of the New World in 1492 were marked by an unprecedented degree of interchange between formerly unconnected cultures. In both Europe and the New World, this contact had wide ranging implications in terms of politics, economics, food ways, science, religion, and art. Using art and visual culture as points of entry, this course examines the history and implications of this interchange during the age of exploration. Same course as HN 315 .
