RE 603 - Language, Literacy, and Culture(3.00 cr.)
Explores various social, cultural, and political aspects of language use, such as ideology; identity; language change, variations, and dialects; and classroom discourse. Students examine philosophies and theories of bilingual education policy, practice, and research. Topics include second language acquisition, English-only mandates, testing practices, and curricular program. This course includes supervised field experience related to assessing and evaluating equity and inclusion of multilingual learners across school curricula, placements, programs, and extracurricular opportunities in public schools.
