TH 278 - Christianity and Islam(3.00 cr.)
Examines the theological encounter of the world’s two largest religious traditions. Students in the course learn about fundamental aspects of Islamic thought and practice in the contemporary world, from Islamic law (Shari’a) to Islamic mysticism (Sufism). A special focus of the course is on the history and contemporary directions of Christian-Muslim dialogue. The class examines Islamic views of Jesus, Mary, and Christianity, and explores how Christian theologians have reflected upon Islamic thought and practice.
