NUR 102  -  Nursing Professional Development in Clinical Judgement

(1.00 cr.)

Develops students' critical reasoning skills within integrative nursing processes and clinical reasoning. Through discussions and readings, students explore key concepts such as clinical judgment, evidence-based practice, the nursing process, health information privacy, and risk reduction. The course emphasizes the application of clinical reasoning to ensure patient safety and reduce risks while fostering effective multidisciplinary communication and interprofessional collaboration in patient care. Students are also introduced to the cornerstones of professional ethics, particularly as outlined in the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses. Students develop competencies in applying the nursing process and evaluating health information privacy, preparing them to work effectively within interprofessional care teams. The courses includes case study analysis, group discussions, and exercises to strengthen students' ability to integrate clinical judgment and ethical decision-making in practice.
