NUR 440 - Transition into Professional Nursing Clinical(6.00 cr.)
Focuses on actualizing the student's professional identity through an immersive clinical experience in a placement of their choice. Students reflect on the Jesuit values of Magis and the constant challenge to improve, deepening their ethical commitment to patients and the common good. The course includes the Health Equity Capstone Project, which emphasizes social justice in nursing professionalism and serves as a competency-based assessment of students' skills, knowledge, and abilities. Competency is assessed through Objective-Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs), multi-patient simulations, clinical evaluations, and self-reflection to ensure students demonstrate the required clinical judgment, leadership, nursing skills, and professional identity for a successful transition into practice. Must be passed with a C or better.
