ED 112 - Foundations in Early Childhood Education(3.00 cr.)
Provides students with a comprehensive understanding of early childhood development, focusing on current theories and practices grounded in relevant research. Students examine the foundational theories of childhood development, analyzing the role of brain development, executive functions, and self-regulation in the child's cognitive and emotional growth. The course explores the interconnectedness of developmental domains and helping students understand how physical, cognitive, social, and emotional domains impact growth and development. Students leave the course with a comprehensive understanding of how milestones inform developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and linguistically relevant evidence-based teaching practices.
