RE 606 - Assessments in Bilingual and Second Language Education(3.00 cr.)
Designed to give students a deep understanding of issues related tot he testing and assessment of language minority students and offers practical suggestions for using assessment to inform student learning. Course content includes the study and evaluation of the means of assessing language and content proficiency, the consideration of relationships between second language proficiency and academic achievement, and sociocultural dimensions of testing and assessment. Teachers evaluate the outcomes of their curricular and instructional changes on English language learners' literacy and language proficiency. This course includes supervised field experience related to the formal and informal assessment and evaluation of language and content proficiency of multilingual learners and programs in public schools. The final course in the ESOL program.
