DS 851 - Applied Machine Learning(3.00 cr.)
Introduces students to the concepts of managerial decision making with data analytics and machine learning using software such as SAS Enterprise Miner™ and SAS Visual Analytics™. Students develop an understanding of the strengths and limitations of machine learning techniques, and they actively engage in projects with real data. Broad overviews are provided for both descriptive and predictive modeling techniques including association, clustering, principal components, linear and logistic regression, and neural networks. The process of data input, variable selection, data transformation, imputation, data partitioning, model development, and model assessment are presented. Students observe and participate in the entire data analytics process from data acquisition to final model deployment. Managerial concepts are discussed using cases. A real-world project serves as the culmination of the course. No computer coding is required. Course is required for the SAS BI Certificate and Badge. Same course as GB 851 .
