AH 314 - From Caravaggio to Rembrandt: Art of Baroque Europe

(3.00 cr.)

Originating in late sixteenth-century Italy, the Baroque soon spread, influencing the production of painting, sculpture, and architecture throughout Western Europe. The course examines the rise of the Baroque in the workshop of Caravaggio, traces the development of the style throughout Europe, and culminates with the works of Rembrandt and the Dutch School.
