The department of forensic science offers two graduate degrees that align with Loyola's mission through a commitment to graduate education for lives of meaningful professional service and leadership, by challenging students to understand the ethical dimensions of personal and professional life, and examining their own values, attitudes, and beliefs. Both programs address key areas underserved by existing programs in Maryland. The masters of science in forensic pattern analysis provides training and coursework in forensic pattern evidence, including latent prints, firearms/toolmarks analysis, questioned documents, laboratory quality assurance, and expert testimony. The masters of science in biological forensics provides coursework and training in forensic entomology, forensic microbiology, forensic anthropology, biological forensics, veterinary and wildlife forensics, death investigation, DNA analysis, and fingerprints, in addition to other courses focused on the development of an array of learner and technical skills relevant to a wide range of careers in forensic science and other disciplines.
