Loyola's Management and Organizations department offers courses in both undergraduate and graduate business programs. The department hosts three undergraduate majors: Management, International Business, and Sustainability Management. There are related minors for all three majors as well as a minor in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. In addition, the Management and Organizations department sponsors several student clubs and offers a number of experiential learning opportunity programs.

The study of management focuses on the principles involved in working with and for others, as well as ultimately leading others. As a result, it focuses on concepts that promote organizational performance and commitment, motivation, collaboration and teamwork, and leadership. When these concepts are mastered, students are better able to help organizations and the individuals working in those organizations thrive.

The study of international business involves the understanding of the various economic, political, social, cross-cultural, and ethical contexts that make up the global environment of business. When these concepts are mastered, students are better able to analyze the challenges, risks and opportunities of global business and navigate cross-cultural contexts in which businesses operate.

The study of sustainability management provides students with a grounding in the management of sustainable practices by understanding social, environmental, and economic dimensions that engage various government, customer, employee, and community stakeholders. When these concepts are mastered, students will have an understanding of the influence of sustainable business decisions on society and how to develop strategies based on sustainable business principles.

Learning Aims

Majors in the Management Organizations department help students acquire the knowledge and skills to succeed in a dynamic global world. It's learning include:

  1. To understand how to develop and apply business strategies that integrate concepts of management, international business, and sustainability that ultimately promote organizational effectiveness and performance.
  2. To recognize how to work with individuals of different backgrounds, cultures, and professional disciplines to more collaboratively solve business problems.
  3. To deliver programs that provide high levels of experiential learning so that students can apply what is learned in the classroom to actual workplace problems and contexts.
