American studies is an interdisciplinary field of study that examines the American experience-past and present-through the literature, art, history, politics, and society of the United States.

Requirements for the Minor

Requirements for the minor are as follows:

EN 203 - Major Writers: American Literature or
EN 366 - American Literature to the First World War
HS 102 - Making of the Modern World: United States I or
HS 103 - Making of the Modern World: United States II
Capstone Project in American Studies (AH 490 /EN 405 /HS 499 /PS 490 )
Three Electives (9 credits; listed below)

Notes:

No more than two courses from the same department may count toward the minor. At least three of courses counted toward the minor must be taken at the 300- or 400-level.
