Capstone Experience Course

Not all research or internship experiences through PY 435  and SC 401  are appropriate for the forensic studies capstone requirement and thus need prior approval from the forensic studies director and appropriate department chair. Other experiences may fulfill the capstone requirement but only with the approval of the forensic studies director. Internships completed during the summer can fulfill the capstone experience, but only with prior approval of the forensic studies director and with enrollment in an approved capstone course while participating in the internship.

Notes:

  1. Students may count courses in the forensic studies major and another major or minor, consistent with the double course counting policy of the University and/or the academic program.
  2. For students planning to study abroad fall term of junior year, BL 355  Forensic Biology only meets in the fall and SC 260  Intro to Criminal Justice is typically offered in the fall.  Be sure to complete the necessary pre-requisites for both courses prior to junior year.
  3. For students with a double major in biology, psychology, or sociology, no more than three courses from each major may be double counted in the forensic studies major (i.e., biology and forensic studies, psychology and forensic studies, or sociology and forensic studies). The only exceptions are BL 101  and the forensic capstone course, which do not count as one of the three courses.
