Gender Studies is an interdisciplinary course of study anchored by a shared commitment to the study of how gender and sexuality shape our experiences. It draws on a range of disciplines, including history, sociology, theology, literature, art history and psychology. The Minor is designed to help students bring academic rigor and depth to their interests in gender and sexualities, and to help students identify connections between their own experiences and the gendered experiences of others throughout history and across cultural contexts.
The gender studies minor prepares students to enter a number of graduate programs, including women's studies, law school, social science and humanities programs. Most important, the gender studies minor allows students majoring in various disciplines to come together and express different viewpoints and ways of thinking on a common subject.
