School Counseling, Master's Plus

Students who possess a master's degree from Loyola or another CACREP accredited institution may take the specific courses required by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors to become a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). Students are encouraged to seek guidance from the Board of Professional Counselors as to the courses that meet the educational requirement for licensure. Students may take up to six (6) courses under the master's plus; however, no more than six (6) credits may be taken outside of the school counseling program. Advising and course approval are provided by the program advisor and the director of the school counseling program. Master's Plus students are not required to take comprehensive examinations or write a thesis. It is the student's responsibility to make certain that the minimum QPA requirement of 3.000 (a B average) is maintained. The Master's Plus does not lead to a degree. Students enrolled in the Master's Plus are not eligible for federal loans or financial aid.

Students must be officially admitted to the program before they will be allowed to register for courses. Detailed admission information (application, procedures, required documents, deadlines, etc.) can be found under Admission .
