Marketing, PBC


This part-time certificate is intended for people who wish to further their business education, but do not intend to pursue the complete MBA at this time. Students have the option to "stack" this certificate, with other Sellinger School of Business and Management post baccalaureate certificates to eventually earn an MBA degree.  The aim of this certificate is to meet students where they are by offering flexible learning pathways to obtain specific skills and knowledge. Courses taken for this certificate will not be double counted towards another certificate. Courses adhere to the learning goals and objectives of the Sellinger School of Business and Management.

Admission Criteria

Interested students must apply for admission through the Office of Graduate Admission to be admitted into one of the Sellinger School of Business and Management Post Baccalaureate Certificate (PBC) programs.  Detailed admission information (application procedures, required documents, deadlines, etc.) can be found under Admission .

Students currently enrolled in the Emerging Leader's MBA or the Professional's Master of Business Administration programs are not able to elect any of the PBC programs in place of their matriculated program. Current Students interested in the PBC programs must apply for admission. In addition, current students who have already completed the courses for a PBC cannot retroactively be granted a certificate.

Financial Aid

Student loans and limited scholarship aid are available. All applicants should file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for aid. Inquiries concerning loans should be directed to the Office of Graduate Financial Aid, 410-617-5020.

Prerequisites and Basic Competencies

An entering student must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and should be able to communicate well both orally and in writing.

An entering student also must have facility in algebra and the graphing of mathematical functions, graphic interpretation, and probability. Proficiency in these areas will be assumed with recent college or graduate level credit (grade of B or better in a single course) in finite mathematics, precalculus, or mathematical models for business. Proficiency may also be established through a score of 80 percent or better on the Math Proficiency Exam.

It is assumed that students will receive assignments using spreadsheets, employing specialized software, and accessing online databases. Therefore, students should be proficient at an intermediate level with spreadsheet, presentation, and word processing software applications and be able to design and manipulate data using these tools.
