The Sellinger Scholars Program is a four-year leadership development honors program in business administration which provides highly motivated students with increased academic rigor beyond the traditional curriculum of the Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science (with a major in Finance) degrees. Through the Sellinger Scholars Program, classroom education is augmented through unique opportunities to interact with business professionals and community leaders and complemented with skills-based learning. Driven by the University's mission, "to inspire students to learn, lead, and serve in a diverse and changing world," these interactions strive to enhance understanding of leadership and individual and corporate social responsibility, while fostering reflection on personal and professional choices.

Scholars take foundation courses and two one-credit co-curricular courses as a cohort. Required foundation courses offer increased rigor in the form of outside reading, discussion, and class presentations. The Sellinger Scholars Internship Preparation Course (BH 196 ) taken in the first year is designed to prepare students to research, apply, and obtain at least one (1) internship during their undergraduate years at Loyola. The Sellinger Scholars Senior Seminar (BH 199 ) is designed to prepare students for their post-graduate lives with participation in an immersive, overnight retreat focused on Ignatian values. A cumulative project closes the loop from their first year at Loyola as they discern how they have grown as individuals and as a cohort. Scholars also complete required community service each year and take part in mentor-mentee pairings. Scholars are selected when applying to Loyola based on academic achievement, leadership experience and potential, commitment to service, and community involvement.

Students pursuing a major within the Sellinger School of Business (see below for complete list of business majors) are eligible to apply as incoming first-year students. Admission is competitive. Scholars are selected when they apply to Loyola on the basis of academic achievement, leadership experience and potential, commitment to service, and community involvement.

Once in the program, Sellinger Scholars are expected to meet the following academic standards each semester:

• Maintain full-time status (minimum of 12 credits).  Students planning to take less than 12 credits a semester need to seek prior approval from the Scholars program directors;
• Maintain a minimum 3.300 cumulative GPA;
• Complete at least one one-semester internship (two internships recommended);
• Full participation in the Sellinger Scholars Foundation Cohort Courses; and
• Full participation in the Sellinger Scholars Internship Preparation Course (BH 196 ) and Sellinger Scholars Senior Seminar (BH 199 ).

To maintain Sellinger Scholar status and be in good standing, each semester a student must meet all requirements noted above. If a student does not meet the outlined requirements, the student will no longer be eligible to continue in the program. The student may appeal their ineligibility in writing to the academic director within 10 business days after grades have been posted for the relevant semester.

Students are expected to complete all required courses as a cohort as these courses offer increased rigor in the form of outside reading, discussion, and class presentations. However, scholars may request permission from the program directors to take one of the required BH cohort classes outside of the cohort whether at Loyola or abroad.
