NUR 430  -  Leadership and Management Nursing

(3.00 cr.)

Examines leadership theories and practices in advocacy, management, teaching, and research, focusing on safe delegation of care, staffing best practices, feedback strategies, and evidence-based conflict management. The course emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion as integral to just leadership, guided by Catholic tradition and Jesuit principles of discernment, continuous improvement, and lifelong learning. Students develop competencies in delegation, conflict management, and leadership strategies, with assessments through group projects, case studies, written exams, role-playing exercises, simulations, and peer feedback, measuring their ability to apply leadership theories, manage teams, and promote inclusivity and equity in leadership. Must be passed with a C or better.

Prerequisite (may be taken concurrently): NUR 440 .
Concurrent Requisite: NUR 431 .
Restrictions: Restricted to nursing majors.
