SC 442  -  Food Fight: Inequality, Injustice, and Resistance

Interrogates food as an economic, social, and political domain that requires the study of macro processes of regional and class marginalization, exploitation, conformity, oppression, resistance, and revolution. The course studies "food fights", which includes farm-worker strikes, consumer calls for boycotts, campaigns to ban harmful pesticides and fertilizers, debates about labeling genetically modified food, and national policies to encourage citizens to eat specific foods.

Prerequisite: SC 100 .
Recommended Prerequisite: SC 277 .
Restrictions: Restricted to juniors or seniors.
