FI 724 - Financial Markets and Institutions

(3.00 cr.)

Prerequisite: FI 703  (may be taken concurrently). Surveys money and capital markets in order to determine their functions and interrelations in the national economy. This course examines the interaction of key institutions and monetary and fiscal policies in the financial markets. Students obtain an understanding of the global financial system, including financial markets, financial institutions, the role of central banks, the interaction of monetary and fiscal policy, and regulation. The role of interest rates in the financial system, including the term structure and risk structure of rates, is also covered.
