IS 356 - Information Technology for Financial Services

(3.00 cr.)

At a time when information is critical to corporate success, financial service firms continue to be the largest consumers of information technology (IT). The impact of IT across U.S. and European equities markets, brokerage companies, bond trading, and electronic banking is examined alongside new applications of fintech. Students gain a thorough understanding of how IT is used by financial services firms for competitive advantage. The course builds on the theory of equities markets by allowing students to engage in simulated stock market transactions and to apply financial theories in a practical, real-world setting.
