NUR 411 - Nursing Care of Adults and Older Adults with Complex Health Problems Clinical(3.00 cr.)
Develops clinical judgment and competencies in patient-centered, compassionate care for adults and older adults with complex health problems, including dual diagnoses and socioeconomic challenges. Students practice their clinical judgment and reasoning in direct nursing care, emphasizing patient safety, establishing evidence-based priorities, coordinating care, and advocating for vulnerable populations. The course integrates skills in managing rehabilitation, addressing psychosocial needs, and collaborating with interprofessional teams. Competency is assessed through case studies, clinical assignments, direct observation, patient care simulations, group discussions, and reflective self-evaluation. Students demonstrate the ability to coordinate care across multiple settings, prioritize patient needs, and advocate effectively within the healthcare team. In alignment with the Jesuit commitment to cura personalis, students also explore strategies to ensure the dignity and well-being of patients facing complex health challenges. Must be passed with a C or better.
Concurrent Requisite: NUR 410 . Restrictions: Restricted to nursing majors.
