NUR 410  -  Nursing Care of Adults and Older Adults with Complex Health Problems

(3.00 cr.)

Focuses on the curative and rehabilitative care of patients with dual or multiple diagnoses and complex social circumstances, such as homelessness or lack of health insurance. Students learn to coordinate care across agencies, understand the role of nurses in rehabilitative care, and develop effective interprofessional partnerships. The course emphasizes patient dignity, advocacy, psychosocial adaptation, and addressing the challenges of aging populations and social determinants of health. Competency is assessed through case studies, quizzes, exams, clinical simulations, patient care plans, group discussions, projects, and role-playing exercises, evaluating students' ability to coordinate care, apply interprofessional strategies, advocate for patients, and integrate psychosocial factors into care plans, ensuring they can deliver comprehensive care to vulnerable populations. Must be passed with a C or better.

Prerequisite: At least a C or better in NUR 310 NUR 311 .
Concurrent Requisite: NUR 411 .
Restrictions: Restricted to nursing majors.
