NUR 310 - Nursing Care of Adults and Older Adults I and II(3.00 cr.)
Provides foundational knowledge for the nursing care of adults and older adults across preventive, curative, acute, chronic, and palliative care settings. Students integrate knowledge of acute and chronic diseases with nursing processes to develop clinical judgment, emphasizing patient safety, legal accountability, interprofessional collaboration, and cultural awareness. In alignment with the Jesuit principle of cura personalis, students explore the impact of aging on health, focusing on psychosocial concerns, palliative and hospice care, and resources in community and healthcare settings. Students also practice enteral and parenteral therapies and engage in teaching, learning, and documentation processes to provide comprehensive care. Competency is assessed through exams, quizzes, case studies, patient care simulations, group projects, and written assignments, ensuring students demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skills, and clinical judgment for nursing practice.
Prerequisite: NUR 215 , NUR 216 . Prerequisite (may be taken concurrently): NUR 371 , BL 362 , BL 370 . Concurrent Requisite: NUR 311 . Restrictions: Restricted to nursing majors.
