NUR 416 - Mental Health Promotion and Psychiatric Nursing Clinical(2.00 cr.)
Develops clinical judgment and competencies for patient-centered, compassionate care in community health settings. Students practice mental health promotion and psychiatric nursing clinical reasoning and skills, incorporating safety, therapeutic communication, psychosocial integrity, and dignity into all direct patient care and professional interactions. The course emphasizes targeted nursing interventions to address population health concerns, reduce health disparities, and promote health while preventing disease. Competency is assessed through clinical practice, peer feedback, self-reflection, simulations, objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs), and group projects evaluating students' ability to apply mental health promotion strategies, engage in therapeutic communication, and implement effective nursing interventions within the community setting. Must be passed with a C or better.
Concurrent Requisite: NUR 415 . Restrictions: Restricted to nursing majors.
