Accounting Minor

The Accounting Minor is geared toward students looking to enhance their understanding of the "language of business." Coursework covers financial accounting, taxation, and cost accounting, while also allowing students to tailor their experience to their career goals.

Minor Requirements

AC 201 - Financial Accounting
AC 202 - Managerial Accounting
AC 301 - Intermediate Accounting I
AC 409 - Individual Income Tax or
AC 412 - Taxation of Business Entities

Plus two of the following courses:

AC 302 - Intermediate Accounting II
AC 303 - Intermediate Accounting III
AC 311 - Cost Accounting
AC 401 - Advanced Accounting
AC 402 - Auditing of Accounting Information Systems
AC 421 - Auditing

Notes:

While students are free to choose among the elective courses, two course sets are recommended. For students planning to run their own small businesses, the department recommends an "entrepreneur track" consisting of AC 409 , AC 311 , and AC 402 . For students looking to pursue their CPA license without an undergraduate accounting major, the department recommends a "CPA track" consisting of AC 412 , AC 302 or AC 303 , and AC 421 .
