Learning Aims

As artist-scholars, visual arts majors will demonstrate:   

  • The ability to express ideas rigorously through reasoned argument and creative production, supported by textual and/or technical research.
  • Command of the critical vocabulary of analysis, including the histories and material production of visual images.
  • Interdisciplinary approaches to visual arts practices and scholarship, integrating philosophical, historical, scientific, and professional contexts.
  • The cognitive skills of innovation, verbal acuity, and creative problem solving associated with a mastery of the visual arts as history, theory, and studio practice.
