Mathematics Minor

The minor in mathematics consists of six or seven courses. 

Required Courses


Elective Requirements


Students must complete the elective requirement below associated with their declared major.

Students graduating with a degree in a natural science, computer science, or engineering


Students must complete one of the following:

  • One MA/ST 400-level course and two MA/ST 200-level courses
  • Four MA/ST 200-level courses

Students graduating with a degree in the social sciences or humanities


Students must complete the following:

  • Three MA/ST courses at the 200-level or higher

Students graduating with a degree in business


Students must complete the following:

Students graduating with a degree in elementary education


Students must complete one of the elective sequences below:

Notes:


  1. For students wishing to complete minors in both mathematics and statistics, up to two courses may be double counted towards both minors.  Therefore, a minimum of ten courses must be taken in the areas of mathematics and statistics, and these courses must satisfy the published requirements for each of the two separate minors.  For a student whose minor in mathematics consists of seven courses instead of six, a minimum of 11 total courses must be taken.
