BL 206 - Human Anatomy and Physiology I

(3.00 cr.)

The first in a two-course sequence in human anatomy and physiology designed to meet the requirements for students pursuing careers in nursing or allied health professions. The course covers basic body organization; functional biochemistry; cytology; histology; and the study of integumentary, skeletal, muscular, endocrine, and nervous systems. There is emphasis on the study of the relationship between structure (anatomy) and function (physiology) with clinical applications.  Written or electronic permission of the department chair or director of curriculum and advising. To count in the biology major or an associated interdisciplinary major with biology, Human Anatomy and Physiology I (BL 206/BL 207) and Human Anatomy and Physiology II (BL 208/BL 209) must be taken at Loyola or a consortium school. Closed to students who have taken BL 260 , BL 301 , or BL 452 .

Prerequisite: BL 121 , BL 126 ; or BL 152 BL 153 .
Concurrent Requisite: BL 207 .
