TH 249 - Christian Sacraments(3.00 cr.)
Explores Christian sacraments - holy signs and holy things – in Christian history and contemporary life. Specific issues include the place of Israel and the Christian community in the teachings of Jesus and the early Church, the historical development of the practice and theology of the sacraments, and the past and present controversies over the nature of both Church and sacraments. Special attention is paid to the Roman Catholic tradition, but Protestant and Eastern Orthodox perspectives are also included.
