PS 334 - Global Justice(3.00 cr.)
Global justice is a major topic in scholarly debates, partly in response to the accelerating pace of globalization and the rise of challenges such as global poverty and civil wars. This course examines contemporary empirical and philosophical approaches to global justice. First, the course addresses existing international practices that aim to alleviate global poverty and the role of international community to end civil wars. Secondly, it draws upon a variety of normative perspectives and asks questions such as: What duties do states, and their members, have beyond their borders? How do we understand the principles of justice in the global context?
