NUR 205  -  Evidence-Based Practice and Research in Nursing

(3.00 cr.)

Examines the role of qualitative and quantitative evidence in improving patient care and outcomes, emphasizing the integration of scientific evidence into nursing practice and focusing on nursing informatics for quality improvement. Students demonstrate competency in evaluating and applying evidence, summarizing scholarly articles, and presenting research findings using critical and analytical reasoning. The course explores ecological concepts related to human health, such as homeostasis, stress responses, and environmental factors. In alignment with Jesuit values, the course underscores evidence-based practices that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. Assessment methods include research projects, peer presentations, exams, group discussions, and critical analysis of scholarly articles, helping students apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios and develop skills in giving and receiving feedback while demonstrating adaptability and innovation in evidence-based practice.

Prerequisite: NUR 101 .
Prerequisite (may be taken concurrently): ST 210  or ST 265 . 
Concurrent Requisite: NUR 102 .
Restrictions: Restricted to nursing majors.
