Literacy - Literacy Teacher for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Populations, MEd


This 30-credit program is designed for individuals who wish to become specialized literacy professionals in the area of teaching Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) learners. This degree also enables candidates to become certified as ESOL teachers. This program provides candidates with a strong foundation in literacy curriculum, instruction, and assessment at the PK-12 levels.

Candidates should complete the six courses in the literacy core before proceeding to the clinical block. Courses within the core and the clinical block may be taken in any order unless otherwise stated. For May graduates, candidates are responsible for providing Loyola official Praxis II ESOL exam scores by April 15. Similarly, January graduates are responsible for providing Loyola official Praxis II exam scores by December 15. September graduates are responsible for providing Loyola official Praxis exam scores by August 15. In addition, candidates submit to Records an electronic application for graduation the first week of the final semester.
