NUR 316 - Nursing Care of Families: Maternal Health and Childbearing Clinical(3.00 cr.)Allows students to apply clinical judgment and develop competencies in the patient-centered, compassionate care of childbearing families. Students engage in goal setting, observation, practice, feedback, self-evaluation, and reflection as they deliver nursing care focused on prevention, screenings for physiological, developmental, and mental health, neonatal safety, and psychosocial adaptation. An emphasis is placed on integrating teaching-learning practices and addressing the family's unique needs in relevant practice settings to meet course objectives. Competency is assessed through direct observation, clinical reflections, case studies, group projects, and structured feedback from preceptors, ensuring that students demonstrate clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to provide culturally sensitive care. Must be passed with a C or better. Prerequisite: At least a C or better in NUR 310, NUR 311. Concurrent Requisite: NUR 315. Restrictions: Restricted to nursing majors.
