NUR 321 - Nursing Care of Families: Children and Adolescents Clinical(2.00 cr.)Develops clinical judgment and competencies in providing patient-centered care for children and adolescents. Students practice clinical reasoning, emphasizing child development, preventive care, and the management of acute or chronic conditions, with a focus on pediatric pharmacology, medication adaptations, and family-centered care. The course highlights interprofessional collaboration and the referral of families to supportive services, addressing the holistic needs of children and their families. Competency is assessed through clinical practice, peer feedback, self-evaluation, case studies, clinical reflections, simulations, patient care plans, objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs), group discussions, group projects, and developmental screenings from infancy through adolescence, measuring clinical judgment, communication skills, and the integration of evidence-based practices. Must be passed with a C or better. Prerequisite: At least a C or better in NUR 310, NUR 311. Concurrent Requisite: NUR 320. Restrictions: Restricted to nursing majors.
