MA 109 - Precalculus(3.00 cr.)
The study of functions from an algebraic, graphical, and numerical perspective. Concepts and procedures are emphasized, focusing on connections between equations, inequalities, and the analysis of function behavior. Algebraic, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions are examined and applied to problems from science and business. For students intending to take Calculus (MA 151 or MA 251 ).
Prerequisite (may be taken concurrently): A score of 56 or better on Part I of the Math Placement Test or a score of 50 or better on ALEKS or a math SAT score of 560 or better or a math ACT score of 24 or better. Students not meeting the prerequisite will take corequisite MA 005 in addition to MA 109. Students who place into Calculus need department chair's permission to take this course.
