(3.00 cr.)

Explores the relationship between individuals and the social world they navigate daily. The underlying theoretical assumption is the construction of our social reality through the process of interaction with others. Through interaction humans learn the roles, norms, and values of our society and how to fit themselves into ongoing activity. The course explores how individuals, groups, communities, and organizations are affected by cultural understandings of gender, race, class, and age and how individuals resist and accommodate to oppressive circumstances.
