IS 311 - Enterprise Systems(3.00 cr.)
Today's organizations face an increasingly complex data ecosystem, where massive amounts of data from multiple sources are being generated. Building and transforming digital infrastructure to support operations and innovation efforts in a timely manner remain a major challenge. Students learn how large volumes of data are collected, stored, processed, and analyzed to help organizations uncover insights and drive business results. Cloud-first, open, and distributed architecture framework to support app deployment lifecycle is reviewed, including (1) Compute, (2) Storage, and (3) Networking services. Hands-on exercises involving various cloud services such as relational databases, object storage, load balancing, and data warehouse query reinforce students' conceptual understanding of cloud technologies. Students engage in a group project designing a solution concept diagram. Recommended completion during junior year.
