Key:

* Terms may be interchanged,

** Depending upon their progression through the major, students may not need these two elective courses to achieve the graduation requirement of a minimum of 38 courses and 120 credits.

*** Students going abroad in their junior year should work with their advisors to find equivalent courses and/or take some of these courses in their senior year.

Notes:

  1. Students must complete the Diversity-Justice requirement by completing two Diversity-Justice designated courses anywhere in their curriculum (see Diversity-Justice Requirement under Curriculum and Policies).
  2. One course in statistics is required for the biohealth major. A second math course, or a course in calculus, may be required for entry into graduate or professional schools. An elective may be used for this purpose.
  3. For BL courses numbered 206 and above, if a student decides to withdraw from either the lecture or laboratory component of corequisite courses, then the student must also withdraw from the corresponding lecture or laboratory course. Likewise, if a student fails either the lecture or laboratory component of corequisite courses, both courses must be retaken with passing grades to receive credit within the biohealth major. A student will not receive credit for completing the lecture or laboratory only, either at Loyola or another institution, unless the program director gives prior written permission.
  4. Biohealth majors should successfully complete BL 150 /BL 151 BL 152 /BL 153 , and BL 154 /BL 155  before starting their junior year.
  5. Two research or internship courses are required for the Biohealth major. Additional research or internship course(s) may be taken as a free elective. Students should consult their academic advisor before selecting their electives.
  6. Research or Internships completed during the summer or abroad can fulfill the experiential course requirement, but only with prior approval of the program director and with concurrent enrollment in an approved research or internship course.
  7. For students intending to double major in Biohealth and another major, no more than three courses from each major may be double-counted. The following courses are exceptions and do not count as one of the three courses: BL 150 /BL 151 BL 152 /BL 153 , and BL 154 /BL 155 .
